Japanese electronics company Sony has announced to establish a research company in India. Called the Sony Research India Private Limited, it will consist of research and development (R&D) centre, Bengaluru laboratory and Mumbai laboratory as part of Sony’s Global R&D centres. It will become effective on July 1, 2020.
In a statement, Sony said that the Sony Research India aims to accelerate the collaboration with its entertainment and electronics business groups. This will further enhance the “competitiveness and capability of research and development in India”, it added.
Sony Research India will also offer career opportunities in the area of applied AI and data analytics.
Recently, the company launched two new truly wireless headphones- Sony WF-XB700 and Sony WF-SP800N in India. Both headphones come with the ‘Extra Bass’ technology and offer Bluetooth version 5.0 for wireless connectivity. The headphones come with quick charge support and are claimed by the company to deliver 60 minutes of playback in just 10 minutes of charge.
Sony WF-XB700 headphone is priced at Rs 9,990 and comes in two colour options- Black and Blue. The headphones pack a 12mm driver unit and are claimed to last for 9 hours. Sony WF-SP800N headphones, on the other hand, will retail at Rs 18,990. The headphones feature 6mm driver unit and is offered in three colour options- Black, Blue and White. Sony WF-SP800N headphones offer digital voice assistant support and features like Quick Attention Mode and Wearing Detection. The headphones are said to offer a battery life of up to 18 hours.
